About the Ergonomic Chair Blog

After having spent much of my college years sitting on a $15 wooden Ikea chair, I developed chronic lower back problems that made it difficult for me to sit still in a chair for more than an hour at a time without experiencing shooting pain in my lower back and glutes.  Even sitting through a movie in one of those cushy theater seats became difficult for me to bear.

Upon graduation, I started my own business and decided that it was finally time for me to invest in a real premium ergonomic chair.  It took some serious consideration for me to convince myself to shell out the $1000 for my first chair, which happened to be a fully-loaded, C model Herman Miller Aeron, but boy has it been worth it.  I now realize what a great investment in both my health and productivity that initial Aeron has been and continues to be.

I’ve come to appreciate ergonomic chairs so much now that I’ve purchased several for both my office and home.  In fact, I often choose to sit in one of these chairs at home even when I’m not doing work.  I use it whenever I’m watching TV or playing video games for extended periods, or even when I’m having a meal.

Which Ergonomic Chair?

Most of you exploring this site have already come to the conclusion that I have and are simply deciding which ergonomic chair to invest in.  This is where this site comes into play.  Since purchasing my first Herman Miller Aeron a few years ago, I’ve learned and experienced for myself that there are a few quality ergonomic chairs that meet or exceed the standards of the Aeron, in terms of comfort, adjustments, and aesthetics.  This site goes over my experiences testing these various choices to help you make a decision on which one is right for you.

Great blog! I stumbled onto it while googling for reviews on the HM Embody vs the Steelcase Leap. I’m trying to decide between the two now.
